Walking tour of Korcula

Shore excursion from port of Korcula, Spain

  • Duration 1h 30min
  • Activity level medium

What you'll do

Pick up by our guide with the Shorexc sign at the port of Korcula.

The ship docks right in the center of the town and it is from there that we will start our tour.

The old town of Korčula is a masterpiece of architecture and urban planning, the layout of the city streets is reminiscent of a fishbone and was built this way to take advantage of the different winds, to clean the air, something like a natural air conditioning system.

Our walk will include a visit to St. Mark's Cathedral, which is probably the best proof of the art of Korcula's famous stonemasons and of the island's excellent stone, which has been used in buildings all over the world.

We will continue walking in the company of our guide who will take us on a visit to the Bishop's Palace, where we will discover the hidden treasures of the city such as some sketches and drawings of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Tiepolo and many others.

We will continue to the charming Church of All Saints, which contains an impressive collection of Byzantine icons. We will visit its interior.

The town of Korcula is also known as the birthplace of Marco Polo, whose supposed birthplace can be seen from the outside.

After the walking tour, our guide will accompany us to the famous local bakery called Cukarin, where we will have the opportunity to taste homemade local cookies and refresh ourselves with a drink (not included in the price).

We will return to port for the farewell or we can continue walking around the city on our own.
