What you'll do

Pick up by our guide identified with the Shore2Shore sign and departure from the port of Getxo to the Bizkaia Bridge, or better known as the Hanging Bridge, the first ferry bridge built on a metal structure, perfectly represents what the Industrial Revolution of the nineteenth century meant in this region. Formed by four iron towers 61 meters high and located at the mouth of the Ibaizabal River, it is an original, harmonious and slender work that connects the towns of Portugalete, left bank of the river, and Getxo, right bank. We will discover this great monument that whispers stories of wealthy bourgeoisie and their tireless workers, a walk through both realities that shows the weight of a construction that has not lost its value because of its antiquity.

Departure to Bilbao, elected Best European City 2018, with the Guggenheim Museum as a great international symbol, is the gateway to the Basque cultural universe. A city that is a worldwide example of urban transformation and that has maintained a culture and signs of identity that make it unique and singular.

Our guide will accompany us on a walking tour through a cheerful, fresh and welcoming city. We will show you all its charming corners, an interesting itinerary to discover the medieval Bilbao, with its cobbled streets, squares and charming corners, witnesses of the intense mercantile and port activity that made the place grow. Its walls, the Gothic cathedral of Santiago, the Plaza Nueva, the emblematic church of San Antón and the ancient ruins on which it sits, or the bustling market of La Ribera are home to more than 500 years of history and an urban vitality that does not seem to pass the time. We will walk through the Seven Streets of Bilbao, the original core of the town, we will contemplate its most emblematic buildings, the City Hall, the Azkuna Zentroa, a former wine warehouse converted into a leisure and cultural center; the University of Deusto, the Euskalduna Palace,... We will take a pedestrian walk around the outside of the Guggenheim and help you understand the history of a city that has managed to reinvent itself.

The visit shows the urban development of Bilbao and its architecture from the 19th century to the present day. A look at the beating heart of a city that exudes tradition and avant-garde. Strolling through the Ensanche and Abandoibarra is to discover the entrepreneurial spirit of Bilbao, to enjoy an authentic open-air museum of architecture and sculpture, which highlights the vision of the future that has always accompanied the city.

We will enjoy free time in the old town at the end of the visit and from there return to the port of Getxo for the farewell.
