This half day programme discovers the most important places of interest in this wonderful city of Porto.
We start with a scenic drive along the banks of the Douro River, where we can make brief stops to take photos along this picturesque route.
The tour continues past the original tallest building in Portugal the Clerigos tower and adjoining church – a baroque building dating back to the 18th century.
We can also admire the beautiful architecture of the Porto Cathedral which dates back to the 12th century.
We take a brief stop at the Cathedral to take in this panoramic view of the city’s 1000 years of Portuguese history.
Travelling on to Batalha Square and Rua de Santa Catarina through the heart of the city to admire the impressive architecture of City Hall and then on to the old quarter of Ribeira.
Continuing along the Douro River and over the impressive Dom Luis ironbridge which when completed in 1886 was the longest bridge of its kind in the world.
Following the river we come to the Vila Noya de Gaia region where much of the Porto wine is produced.
We will then return to the Port of Leixoes so you can re-join your ship for onward passage to your next port of call.
