- Duration 8h
- Activity level low
What you'll do
Our guide will meet you at the port of Cobh where we board an air-conditioned coach to take a guided tour of Cork and Kinsale.
Cork, European Capital of Culture in 2005 and second most populous city of South Ireland, is located in the south coastal area and borders the Lee River which divides into two canals, creating an island in the city center. The architecture and customs of Cork (culture, gastronomy ...) differ from the rest of the country.
Free time for lunch.
Departure to Kinsale in the afternoon. Located about 25 km south of Cork, the city is a popular holiday destination of both Irish and foreign tourists. Restaurants, golf, sailing .... Kinsale is one of the most charming small towns of the country.
In 1601, the defeat of the Irish forces at the Battle of Kinsale put an end to the Gaelic social order. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, there was a large naval base which today is a magnificent marina. On the banks of the port in the eastern part of the Bandon River, the British built Charles Fort at the end of the seventeenth century to protect the port. Sitting on a plot of nearly 5 hectares on top of a cliff, it is one of the best preserved forts.
Return to the port of Cobh so you can rejoin your ship for onward passage to your next port of call.
