What you'll do

The amazing nature of Iceland awaits you on the stop of your cruise "Seyðisfjörður", a small town located at the end of the fjord surrounded by waterfalls and snow-capped mountains.

We depart from the port of Seydisfjordur with our guide to explore the incredible eastern fjords, the waterfalls and the history of Iceland.

This excursion for cruise passengers in Iceland begins with a ride up the mountain to Egilsstadir, the capital of the eastern fjords. This unique panoramic view with Lake Lagarfljot as the main setting. This lake, which is also known as Lögurinn, is famous for its natural beauty and its mysterious charm as well as for the practice of fishing.

Some legends mention that, deep in this narrow lake in eastern Iceland, a creature called Lagarflotsormurinn (the Lake Lagarfljot worm) hides. Stories about the Lagarfljot monster date back to the 13th century and say that it was last seen in 2012 when a farmer recorded a strange body slipping under the frozen surface but, there is still no proof of its existence. And what about you, do you believe in monsters? What you can believe is that this lake is surrounded by impressive nature.

After marveling at the views as we circled the lake, we will continue through the Hallormsstadaskogur forest for a last look to find the monster before returning to the ship in time for departure. We will stop briefly at the "Tree museum" Ecological Complex.

Our main stop on the tour is the Snaefellsstofa Visitor Center where guests can learn more about the Vatnajokull national park or take a short walk to see the charming Klausturkaffi cafe. If we have time, on the way back we will stop at the Gufufoss waterfall, a characteristic sight of eastern Iceland.

The picturesque seaside town of Seydisfjordur is one of the best preserved in Iceland since the 19th century when a small group of Norwegian fishermen settled in the area.

Without a doubt, this is a very interesting visit both for the landscape and the architecture of the area.

Before ending our excursion, we will walk next to Bláa Kirkjan, the blue church and the most attractive building in this town.

From there, you can walk the last few meters/feets on your own, this way you can contemplate the multicolored wooden houses and experience the friendliness of the locals of Seydisfjordur.
