South Coast Exploration

Shore excursion from port of Reykjavík, Iceland

What you'll do

The beautiful and varied south coast of Iceland makes for an action-packed day tour.

We begin by heading east to the Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls.

Seljalandsfoss is a very rare waterfall because you can actually walk behind it.

Dýrhólaey arched cliff is next on the agenda, with its photogenic lighthouse and gorgeous black-sand beaches. It has the added bonus of being one of the most likely places to see puffins along the South Coast (in summer, at least).

Just before the pretty town of Vík í Mýrdal, we find Reynisfjara beach, famously black, and featuring great geometric basalt columns and caves. From here you will also see the towering Reynisdrangar sea stacks jutting out of the ocean just offshore.

Further up the coast, we take head a little inland to take a better look at Sólheimajökull outlet glacier, which is part of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier.
