Visit Rostock and Warnemunde

Our Shore2Shore Excursions guide will meet you at the Port of Warnemünde where we board an air-conditioned coach to take a guided tour of Rostock.

Rostock, is the largest city in the north German state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and is located on the Warnow river; the quarter of Warnemünde 12 kilometres (7 miles) north of the city centre is directly located at the coast of the Baltic Sea.

Rostock is home to one of the oldest universities in the world, the University of Rostock founded in 1419. 

One of the most picturesque places in Rostock is the Neuer Markt (New Market Square), with the Town Hall - that was originally built in the 13th century in Brick Gothic style, but extensively transformed in the 18th century, with the addition of a Baroque façade and a banqueting hall.

St. Mary's Church - Marienkirche, on Ziegenmarkt, is an imposing Brick Gothic church. Built in the 13th century, it was enlarged and modified at the end of the 14th century into the present cross-shaped basilica. The huge tower was not completed until the end of the 18th century. Inside there is an astronomical clock built in 1472 by Hans Düringer.

The architecture of the city highlight the historical facades of houses with different periods like Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque.

We will also have the chance to appreciate the resort of Warnemünde, with wide sandy beaches and boardwalks, the fish market with small picturesque fishermen's houses, romantic restaurants and sailing boats.

We will then return to the Port of Warnemünde so you can re-join your ship for onward passage to your next port of call.
