Charming towns Le Castellet and Sanary
Shore excursion from port of Toulon, France
- Duration 4h
- Activity level low
What you'll do
Our Shorexc Excursions guide will meet you at the Port of Toulon where we board an air-conditioned coach to take a guided tour of Le Castellet and Sanary.
We take a one hour drive to Le Castellet which is a beautiful old fortified hilltop village which dates back to the middle ages. This is one of the quaintest medieval villages in the area with lots of artisan shops and galleries to visit. The ancient houses have been tastefully decorated and reformed to enhance the old stonework.
Other things to explore, dating from the 11th century include the church and chapel, the remaining ancient walls and old wooden portals to the village. Plus a 15th century chateaux which now is home to the Town Hall but from here there is an exceptional view over to Saint Baume and the local vineyards in the nearby valleys.
Then after a thirty minute drive we arrive at the village of Sanary. This is a small coastal Provencal fishing village, now a popular resort, which has a very pretty harbour lined with palm trees and pastel coloured houses.
There is about an hour to enjoy your stay here in Sanary with its church and tower and fishing port and many old historic houses.
We will then return to the Port of Toulon so we can re-join our ship for onward passage to our next port of call.
