What you'll do
Our guide will meet you at the Port of Tallinn where we board an air-conditioned coach to take a guided tour of Tallinn.
Tallinn is Estonia's capital and is home to almost a third of country's population and dominates political, cultural, scientific and economic life. With 845 years of recorded history, it can offer a wide variety of points of interest. One of the most enjoyable experience when visiting Tallinn is walking the streets of the old city, one of the most amazing medieval urban and best preserved ensembles in Europe, which was declared a World Heritage by Unesco in 1997.
The most important attractions of the Old Town are the numerous Russian Orthodox churches, Lutheran and Dominican monasteries, witnesses of the historical past of the town. One of the highlights is a beautiful Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral which dominates the city with its black domes. We may also see the Cathedral of St. Mary the Virgin, the most important Lutheran church in Estonia and one of the three medieval churches that are still active, the Church of St. Olav.
During this combined tour we will also see the modern city center, the skyscrapers, the Freedom Square, the National Library, the Opera.
Exterior visit of the romantic Kadriorg Park and its baroque palace, then, we will pass through the beautiful wooden suburb also called Kadriorg and later you will see numerous buildings built during the Soviet era.
We will continue towards the Pirita coast to see the maritime panorama, the Olimpic village, the ruins of the Monastery of Santa Brigita. You will enjoy the view from Pirita beach and you will be able to see the ground of songs, a magnificent natural amphitheater with a capacity for 30,000 singers and 200,000 spectators. In this place the national choir festivals are held every five years during the first weekend of July.
At the end of the visit. the guide will leave you in the historical center for shopping or to have a hot/fresh drink.
We will return to the port of Tallinn so you can re-join your ship for onward passage to your next port of call.
