Panoramic view of Skagen City

Shore excursion from port of Skagen, Denmark

  • Duration 3h
  • Activity level medium

What you'll do

The guide will be waiting for us with the SHOREXC sign in Skagen harbor.

Today we will discover the picturesque fishermen's houses, warm yellow with red roofs, typical white borders with their carefully arranged railings and charming gardens.

We will pass Kystmuseet Skagen, the local history museum, and see the fishermen's houses before heading south for a walk through the protected landscape of Hulsig Heath.

We will make a photostop at Raabjerg Mile, the largest migrating sand dune in Denmark and Northern Europe. The dune was formed on the west coast in the 16th century during the great sand drift.

Just after we will return to the center of Skagen and drive through the old part of town for a view of Skagen's characteristic yellow houses. We will enjoy the Nature Center, Skagen Odde Naturcenter designed by the world famous Danish architect Jørn Utzon, author of the Sydney Opera House.

This museum houses several exhibits, one of which focuses on wind, sea and sand, the three elements that created this region 10,000 years ago after the last Ice Age.

We head to the north of Skagen, Grenen, the northernmost point of Denmark, where the 2 seas the Kattegat and the Skagerrak collide.

We will finish our tour passing by the marina before returning to our cruise ship for farewell.
